Blepharoplasty In Miami
As people get older, their eyelids lose muscle firmness and skin elasticity. These weakened muscles and skin laxity create wrinkles around the eyes and sagging tissues that can impede vision by hanging over the eyes. Displaced fat around the eyes can also create puffiness and bags that contribute to a tired appearance.
Also referred to as an eyelid lift, blepharoplasty is designed to adjust and/or remove the skin, fat, and muscles surrounding the eyes to provide patients with a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Blepharoplasty Can Correct:
Saggy, Drooping Eyelids
When excess tissue hangs over your eyes or droops under your eyes, it can cause a tired expression and may even impair your vision. By removing the extra tissue and pulling residual skin taut, a tighter, more refreshed appearance can be achieved.
Bags And Puffiness
Your eyes can be rejuvenated by removing excess fatty tissue that causes puffiness around the eyes. Eliminating the fat under your eyes can also significantly reduce bags that lead to looking exhausted or grumpy.
Wrinkles And Lines
When your facial muscles weaken and your skin loses elasticity over time, it can lead to wrinkling around the eyes. These fine lines and creases can dramatically age you. Blepharoplasty addresses wrinkles by removing excess skin and tightening the remaining skin for a smooth, youthful appearance.
What Does Blepharoplasty Entail?
Anesthesia
Medications are administered before your procedure to ensure a safe, comfortable process. The anesthesia used can either be intravenous (IV) or general depending on your personal preferences and your surgeon’s recommendations.
Upper Eyelids
The surgical approach for the upper eyelids creates an incision along the natural crease of the eyelid. Tissue is removed or repositioned, underlying muscles are tightened, and excess skin is excised.
Lower Eyelids
The technique(s) for the lower eyelids will depend on which issues need to be addressed. Your surgeon will thoroughly review the method(s) and make a recommendation to address all of your concerns.
Transconjunctival Incision
We use this advanced surgical technique most often, and it involves an incision inside the lower lid that results in no visible scar. Bags and puffiness are eliminated as excess fat is removed.
Eyelash Line Incision
To address excess skin, wrinkles, and bags under the eyes, an incision is made along the lower lash line. Excess fat and skin are removed, and the muscles are adjusted as needed.
Pinch Blepharoplasty
This minimally invasive eyelid surgery reduces loose skin and wrinkles using an incision just below the lower lash line with minimal tissue disruption. However, it is not used to fully flatten or tighten the lower lid.
CO₂ Laser
We use our CO₂ laser to tighten the skin of the lower eyelids without any incisions or resulting scars. The laser safely penetrates the skin and stimulates collagen to reduce wrinkles and fine lines.
Blepharoplasty Concerns
Recovery
After your Miami eyelid surgery, your eyes may be gently covered with gauze to protect the incision sites. Lubrication ointment and cold compresses may be used for your comfort. Many patients experience bruising, discomfort, dry eyes, irritation, and swelling while they recover. Prescription medication can help alleviate your discomfort during this time. You will be provided post-operative care instructions that should be followed strictly during your recuperation. We highly recommend wearing sun protection and dark sunglasses while you heal.
Scars
Upper eyelid scarring is minimal and usually concealed by your natural eyelid contours. For the lower eyelid, the incision just below the lash line blends in with the natural eyelash line as it heals. All scars continue to fade with time. The transconjunctival technique and the CO₂ laser technique do not result in visible scars.
Cost
Many factors contribute to the cost of eyelid surgery in Miami, Florida, which can include:
- Anesthesia costs
- Medications and surgical bandaging, ointment, etc.
- Surgeon fees
- Surgical facility pricing
An accurate cost estimate will be determined during your consultation based on your customized procedure plan.
Downtime
Keeping your head elevated and adhering to your post-operative directions can help you heal quicker. Your eyelids may feel tight for the first one or two weeks, but most patients feel back to normal after that. It may take four weeks until you can lift anything or bend over.
