5 Nasal Structure Concerns That Can Be Fixed With Rhinoplasty in Miami

Posted July 19, 2022 in Rhinoplasty

3 Minute Read:

Rhinoplasty (corrective nose surgery) can be one of the most transformative cosmetic surgery procedures available. Your entire facial aesthetic can be improved with a more proportioned and smoother nose. Just look at the stunning transformations attained by some of our favorite celebrities after their “nose jobs.”

Whether you were born with your nasal concern (a nose too large or too small for your face) or another nasal issue, rhinoplasty can help fix the issue so that you can feel more confident and comfortable with your entire facial appearance

Below, you will find information on five of the most common nasal concerns that rhinoplasty can correct.

1. Concerns With the Nasal Bridge

Nasal humps and bumps on the bridge of the nose can be unsightly. These nasal blemishes can be present from a young age or develop over time.

To correct this problem at Careaga Plastic Surgery, Dr. Durand may opt to remove the troublesome bone and cartilage from the bridge of the nose — this may involve shaving the bone down.

Once the proper amount of bone and cartilage is removed, the sides of the nose might be pushed in to give the entire nose a better shape and appearance.

Once the procedure is completed, you will have a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing nasal bridge.

2. Flared Nostrils

Many men and women suffer from large and wide nostrils that can significantly detract from their facial appearance.

To correct this issue, Dr. Durand may trim some of the muscles in the nose that actively pull on the nostrils and cause them to flare.

After this procedure, you will have a much more natural nasal appearance.

3. Concerns With the Nasal Tip

One way to correct an upturned nasal tip is to insert cartilage grafts (usually using cartilage taken from your septum, ears, or ribs). This graft would be inserted at the tip of your nose to lengthen and support the nose. This added length will allow the nose to look much more balanced.

For a downturned nasal tip, cartilage is often repositioned to give a more balanced and normal appearance to the nose. Often, this requires dividing the muscle in two and using anchors to hold the cartilage at the nasal tip in a higher position on the nose.

4. Crooked Nose

Injuries (especially those in sports) leave many people with broken and crooked noses, especially if the noses don’t heal perfectly, which is often the case.

This technique usually includes increasing or decreasing cartilage to the nose and repositioning the cartilage to create a straighter appearance. Additionally, in some cases, the nasal bones must be addressed to set the nose straighter.

The specific method(s) used is dependent on the individual patient and his or her particular issue.

5. Size of the Nose

Nothing can be more frustrating than having a nose that is too large or too small for your face.

A nose that is disproportionate to the size and shape of your face can unbalance your entire aesthetic.

To fix this problem, Dr. Durand may opt to either add cartilage to the nose (using grafts) or remove cartilage from the nose, depending on the specific issue and concern.

Once this procedure is over, you will have a more balanced and attractive facial appearance.

Can Rhinoplasty Be Combined With Other Procedures?

Depending on what you are looking for, while rhinoplasty can completely transform and rejuvenate your facial appearance, if you are looking to give  yourself even more facial rejuvenation, then you may want to consider combining your nose surgery with other facial cosmetic procedures, including facelift surgery or blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery)

By doing so, you can feel more confident that your face will look the way you have always wanted!
