How to Contour Your Face with Fillers

Posted April 24, 2019 in Injectable Fillers

Cosmetic surgery was once the only way to smooth lines and creases and improve facial volume loss. Fortunately, this is no longer the case. Injectable fillers offer non-surgical, minimally invasive options for patients with mild to moderate facial lines and volume loss.

Youthful-looking faces are characterized by their fullness and smoothness. Unfortunately, these are the traits that we lose as we age and are forced to deal with external factors such as sun damage, stress, and unforgiving environments. The more you experience these factors, the more facial changes you will see. This is due to the effect they have on your collagen production. The more collagen you lose, the more your youthful complexion suffers. Injectable fillers temporarily restore volume to fill in fine lines and wrinkles and fill out thinning features.

Lift Your Cheeks

Round, plump, full cheeks are something that we all have as children and young adults. Sadly, as you lose collagen and elastin, you also lose cheek volume. Products in the JUVÉDERM® and Restylane® family restore cheek fullness by stimulating new collagen production in the tissues of the mid-face. These fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, allowing them to add natural-looking, supple volume under the skin. Restylane® Lyft™can not only be used to add volume to the cheeks, but it can also be used to add volume to the hands, restoring volume loss that has been caused by age.

Fill Your Lines

Fine lines, wrinkles, and deep creases, such as nasolabial folds, lip lines, and marionette lines, develop across our faces, but fillers offer non-surgical relief. Hyaluronic acid fillers like those in the JUVÉDERM® and RESTYLANE® family, target volume and fat loss in the lower third of the face to improve the appearance of smile lines, chin wrinkles, marionette lines, and the parenthesis lines that develop between the nose and the lips. These fillers instantly add volume under the skin and can last between six months and two years, depending on the formulation used.

Poly-L-lactic (PLL) injectables like SCULPTRA® Aesthetic help restore volume to the face by stimulating collagen production in the skin. As you age, your body produces less collagen, which can lead to fine lines, wrinkles, and volume loss. SCULPTRA® Aesthetic utilizes tiny particles of PLL to improve collagen production deep in the skin and results can last for two years or more.

Plump Your Lips

Some individuals lose lip volume with age while others are born with naturally thin lips. Fillers provide subtle or dramatic enhancement to the lips to increase fullness and shape the outline of the lips. Certain products in the JUVÉDERM® and RESTYLANE® family are specifically designed to plump and define your lips so that you can achieve your perfect pout.

Awaken Your Eyes

Although they are not fillers, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® are injectable treatments that are commonly combined with fillers to treat facial aging on the upper regions of the face. BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® work differently than facial fillers. These diluted neurotoxins address dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movements by blocking the chemical signals that allow for muscle contractions. By not allowing this movement, lines such as crow’s feet and frown lines relax to reveal more youthful-looking eyes.

Thin Your Neck

Many men and women suffer from a double chin. This is genetic for some individuals while for others it is a result of the accumulation of fat beneath the chin. KYBELLA® is an injectable treatment (although it is also not a traditional filler), that contours the chin and neck region by breaking down submental fat. The damaged fat is then naturally processed and eliminated by the body.
