Is It Too Late for Summer Muscles?

Posted July 09, 2019 in Emsculpt®

With the heat of summer officially upon us, some men and women may be feeling disheartened by the realization that the months of working out and eating right have not provided the muscle definition that they wanted. Everyone wants to look and feel their best during summer outings to the beach, but unfortunately, even with the healthiest of lifestyles, muscle definition is not always possible.

Muscles develop as a response to voluntary tissue contractions. These contractions occur during workouts—the more intense the exercise is, the more intense the contractions are. Although some men and women can achieve definition in the abdomen and buttocks through regular workouts, not everyone can, since the muscle contractions are not strong enough to remodel the structure of the tissues.

Careaga Plastic Surgery is now proud to offer Emsculpt®. Emsculpt® is a revolutionary, non-invasive body contouring procedure that not only reduces the presence of unwanted fat but also builds real and lasting muscles.

What Can I Expect with Emsculpt®?

Emsculpt® uses electromagnetic energy called HIFEM®. HIFEM® is high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy, and it stimulates intense muscle contractions.

During your treatment, the Emsculpt® paddles are attached to either the abdomen or buttocks. The devices emit electromagnetic energy that stimulates supramaximal muscle contractions, penetrating deep into the tissue to remodel and re-sculpt the muscular structure.

A series of four Emsculpt® treatments is recommended for ideal results. Four treatment sessions can match the intensity and number of muscle contractions that would be provided by over 20,000 abdominal crunches. Emsculpt® allows patients to see the results of multiple abdominal workouts without the sweat, gym membership, or frustration. The procedure is short, painless, and entirely comfortable. There is no downtime required after Emsculpt® treatment, and patients experience no discomfort beyond the feeling of a strenuous workout. Results begin to show immediately and continue to improve with time. Typically, final results are apparent within two to four weeks after the last Emsculpt® session.

In addition to muscle development, Emsculpt® provides a simultaneous increase in your metabolism. Patients can see up to a 19 percent decrease of fat and a 16 percent increase in muscle mass in the treatment area. Emsculpt® is the only cosmetic treatment that can provide complete abdominal or buttock definition.

What Can Enhance Your Emsculpt® Treatment?

While Emsculpt® can help build muscles and increase metabolism, it is not always powerful enough for patients with a higher degree of excess fat. For patients with a considerable amount of fat in either the abdomen or buttocks, liposuction is an excellent combination procedure. Liposuction can be performed first to remove unwanted fat cells permanently. This surgical procedure suctions out fat using a small, hollow tube, and once your body heals, Emsculpt® can be used to build muscle.

Before Emsculpt®, many patients have requested high-definition liposuction, which is essentially selective liposuction of the superficial layers of tissue. This technique is used to provide the illusion of a more toned abdomen or even a six-pack. While high-definition liposuction is effective, it is only a visual trick. High-definition liposuction cannot build actual muscles; Emsculpt® can.
