Why Have Non-Surgical Procedures Increased During COVID-19?

Posted December 21, 2020 in Coronavirus, Non-surgical Facial Rejuvenation

3 Minute Read:

The recent events that have transpired due to COVID-19 haven’t stopped physician assistant Reana Myers and aesthetician Victoria Socarras from stepping up to the challenge and adapting to their patients’ needs, which have only become more prevalent during the pandemic.

Specific cosmetic procedures, such as non-surgical cosmetic treatments, have become more popular and advantageous during these unprecedented times.

Why Are Non-Surgical Treatments More Popular After COVID-19?

With the proliferation of video calls and conferences resulting from more people working from home, more attention is being directed at our faces, and this is creating higher demand for facial rejuvenation procedures. This has started what has become known as the “Zoom effect,” a heightened desire for facial plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic treatments.

Most women and men are not used to seeing their faces on a camera all day, especially a camera without studio lighting or the availability of makeup professionals to make us look our best. This day-in and day-out routine has given some women and men the final push towards cosmetic enhancement.

While facial surgeons have certainly seen an increase in surgical procedures, such as rhinoplasty (nose surgery) and blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), physicians and physician assistants have also witnessed a boost in patients seeking non-surgical alternatives.

What Are the Advantages of Non-Surgical Treatments During COVID-19?

More Time to Focus on Yourself

Not only are we spending more time staring at our faces, but we are also spending more time with ourselves in general. With less professional and social obligations, many are carving out some much needed “me time.”

The additional free time is finally allowing many to take a break and focus on their health, which includes the clarity and vibrancy of their skin.

Little to No Downtime

Non-surgical treatments, such as injectables, non-surgical body contouring, radiofrequency treatments, and laser treatments, are extremely fast procedures—meaning that you spend less time in the office and fewer hours or days recuperating afterward.

Most non-surgical treatments allow patients to return to their daily activities immediately, giving them more convenience and flexibility.

Heightened Safety

For those who may be concerned about the safety of cosmetic surgery during the recovery stage, non-surgical treatments can eliminate that fear.

Cost Efficacy

Another great advantage of non-surgical treatments is their price. As more people work from home, they may also be working fewer hours or affected by the current state of the economy. Luckily, non-surgical treatments are less expensive than surgical treatments, allowing those who desire cosmetic transformations the opportunity to uncover their beauty and youth without breaking the bank.

Alternatively, other potential patients may be finding themselves in the unique position of having a bit more disposable income than they’re used to. No matter where or how you live, you undoubtedly needed to make changes in the past year, some of which were potentially money-saving.

Think about it. There were no international vacations or cruises to take, fewer dinners out, fewer movies or concerts to enjoy, and simply less extracurricular activities to participate in.

The reduction in these activities you often take for granted may allow you to be more comfortable spending a little extra on yourself, and non-surgical treatments are a great place to start.
